Social construction of knowledge
The social construction of knowledge steers this research towards a participatory methodology. The design and development of insights for teaching also steers it towards a participatory action research approach.
Research has two aims, develop teaching of DA in schools but also to identify the support needed for teachers.
This means the focus is on both developing and refining appropriate lessons for the school context but also the need to understand the experience of teaching the topic to be able to identify the support needs.
Action research only a practitioner- design based research collaborative approach to develop a curriculum and outputs.
Experience of teaching not happened before so lesson study - teachers working together to develop knowledge and refine practice. Exploring own and others practice helps co-construct knowledge first hand.
