Two Positions - theoretical

Social justice/social responsibility - do attitudes change - critical theory? (Sonka) - demand for change and raising awareness and advocacy about the needs of disabled people in a digital world - most papers introduce the subject like this how their needs are overlooked. Pre and post attitudes (social activist piece) - currently people discriminated against because people aren’t aware - legal/equality - change society to make it more inclusive. (Change the Social construction of knowledge and how we view society - changing the narrative) - survey of attitudes pre and post followed by qualitative interviews to explore further. - empathy papers and cost/return on investment arguments mainly from industry (cost/time of meeting the needs of the marginalised minority). - subject as a litmus paper to find out response to it. - slow progress so what’s the problem/. Current attitudes of the younger generation in relation to the topic when awareness is raised.

Social constructivist pedagogy of lesson materials (voices of experience of educational intervention (Lewthwaite).

Most papers say this isn’t taught because of the lack of pedagogical materials and guidance not because people aren’t willing. And that young people have very little awareness prior to their university courses. Education preparing them for the needs of the workplace and understanding inclusive practices in the digital world. Pedagogy- planned, enacted and experienced - piece about supporting the implementation of a taught curriculum. (Socially constructed from the experiences of those participating) - Mixed methods and triangulation of evidence - pre/post knowledge, interviews, student assessment work (as per most papers)

Argue why second is most appropriate e.g. how others have approached it and about filling the gap of teaching resources- evidence that people ‘know what needs to be done and know it’s the right thing’ but don’t have the support to do it. - subject as a pragmatic what works for teaching the subject.

Ethical considerations for each?
